The entries are in!

The Commerce and Employment Department are delighted to announce that nominations are now in for the Guernsey Awards for Achievement Business Awards with the judging process set to begin over the next few weeks.

Thirty companies have put themselves forward for the three main business awards; the NatWest Best Small Business Award, the BWCI Best Medium Business Award and the Healthspan Best Large Business Award, which compares favourably to last year.

Closing date for awards – noon Wednesday 4 November

Guernsey businesses have a few weeks left to give themselves the opportunity of walking the red carpet at next year’s Guernsey Awards for Achievement. The closing date for entries for the business awards at the island’s premier business event in February next year is November 4th.

Since the launch of the event in July this year the organisers, The Guernsey Event Company, have seen strong interest in all three of the main business categories but are looking to encourage anyone still thinking of entering to start work on their nomination forms now. A workshop held last month to provide support for those interested in entering proved very successful with many local businesses taking up the opportunity to find out more about the entry process.

Frances Edmonds to speak at this year’s Gala Awards Evening

Britain’s most entertaining female after-dinner speaker is set to address islanders at one of Guernsey’s foremost awards evenings.

The Garenne Group, one of the team of sponsors of the Guernsey Awards for Achievement 2009, has confirmed that Frances Edmonds will be the keynote speaker at the forthcoming Gala Evening to be held on Thursday 4th February 2010. An accomplished broadcaster and best-selling author, she was also voted the nation’s most entertaining after-dinner speaker in a recent survey by The Times newspaper.

The search is on for this year’s Unsung Hero

Islanders are encouraged to nominate their unsung hero, someone who has given selflessly to the local community.

The Specsavers Unsung Hero Award is now in its 11th year and will culminate at next year’s Awards for Achievement gala evening. It celebrates a person who works, often behind the scenes, for the welfare of others in the local community. This may be in any capacity, whether for a recognized association, group or charity or simply by helping others.

Guernsey businesses invited to walk the red carpet

Guernsey businesses are being invited to step up and walk the red carpet at the island’s annual awards evening. The search for the Bailiwick’s top local companies, organisations and individuals has begun for the next Guernsey Awards for Achievement, which is launched today.

Seven awards will be presented to those who have achieved corporate and personal success at a glittering gala awards evening on February 4th 2010 at Beau-Sejour. Businesses have a chance to enter three main categories; the NatWest Best Small Business Award, the BWCI Best Medium Business Award and the Healthspan Best Large Business Award. A winner from one of those awards will receive the evening’s top accolade, the Commerce & Employment Guernsey Business of the Year Award.
